Popular Movies Filmed on Kauai Island

Kauai's natural beauty has been showcased in numerous films, from the adventurous Jurassic Park to the romantic setting of The Descendants.

Jurassic Park (1993)

Kauai Island was extensively used for filming many of the outdoor scenes in the movie, including the famous helicopter approach to the island.

Tropic Thunder (2008)

The majority of the movie was shot in Kauai, even though it is set in Vietnam. The local forest scenery was so impressive that it was used in place of the Vietnamese jungle.

The Perfect Getaway (2009)

Scenes at the beautiful Polihale Beach and the craggy Na Pali Coast on Kauai Island were chosen as filming sites.

Scenes from the film were shot on the breathtaking Ke’e Beach and in the verdant woods that cover the interior of Kauai Island.
