14 Best Places to Visit in Sohra

Sohra (Cherrapunji) is a scenic town in Meghalaya’s East Khasi Hills district. 

1. Nohkalikai Waterfall (The 3rd highest waterfalls in India)

Visit Nohkalikai Waterfall during the dry season, October to May. The waterfall is in full flow, and the weather is nice.

2. Mawsmai Cave in Sohra (Cherrapunji)

Mawsmai Cave has tight passageways and stunning rock formations. The cave’s wonderful and strange atmosphere is created by stalagmites and stalactites.

3. Living Root Bridges

The local Khasi tribe guides rubber fig tree roots across streams and rivers. The roots grow tough and make strong bridges over time.

4. Seven Sisters Falls (Nohsngithiang Falls)

Seven Sisters Falls (Nohsngithiang Falls) is an incredible waterfall in Sohra (Cherrapunji), Meghalaya, and is the 4th highest waterfall in India.

5. Ka Khoh Ramhah and Thangkharang Park

The giant’s head-shaped "Ka Khoh Ramhah" rock is near Thangkharang Park and is one of the most popular attractions in Sohra.

6. Dainthlen Falls, Sohra( Cherrapunji) 

Dainthlen Falls’ flowing water into a pool is mesmerising. The waterfall and greenery are relaxing.

7. Eco Park

Eco Park is located 3 km from Cherrapunji Bus Stand in Meghalaya. It’s near Seven Sister Waterfalls and a must-see in Cherrapunji.

8. Arwah Cave in Khliehshnong

Arwah Cave is a massive cave in Khliehshnong, Meghalaya, 3.5 km from Cherrapunji Bus Stand.

9. Mawkdok Dympep Valley Viewpoint

The views shows huge green valleys, rolling hills, and deep gorges. The scenery appears endless. It’s breathtaking.

10. Kynrem Falls

It can be found within the boundaries of the Thangkharang Park. Kynrem Falls is  the 7th highest  waterfall in India.

11. Mawlynnong Village

Mawlynnong is also known as “God’s Own Garden” because it has earned the title of one of the cleanest villages in Asia.Cleanliness and hygiene are important to the Villagers.

12. Kongthong Village

The village of Kongthong can be found in the East Khasi Hills of Meghalaya. Kongthong’s residents interact through music, establishing harmony. It’s a community of happy songs.

13. David Scott Trail

This 16-kilometer hike crosses mountains, valleys, and rivers in the Eastern Khasi Hills. Meghalaya’s few preserved beauty from the early British colonial period.

14. Rainbow Falls

Rainbow Falls in Meghalaya’s Cherrapunji is about 18 kilometres from Nongriat village. It is a famous Meghalaya waterfall near Double Decker Root Bridge in Cherrapunji.
